Mr. Sam Lam is Founding President of Hong Kong Chronicles Institute established in July 2019 for Hong Kong’s first-ever book series of more than 23 million words on 7,000 years of local history in accordance with a unique Chinese cultural tradition. Currently an advisor of the Our Hong Kong Foundation, founded by Mr. Tung Chee-hwa, former Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and HKSAR’s first Chief Executive. Mr Lam also acted as Mr Tung's personal advisor on international and local public issues.

With more than 40 years of experience in publishing, media, public affairs and corporate communications, Mr. Lam co-founded Hong Kong Communication Group, CK Lo & S Lam Ltd, Strategic Financial Relations Ltd and Worldcom Group. He was a pioneer as having introduced the concept of corporate communications and public relations to the Mainland market in the early 1980s upon China’s reform and opening-up policy. 

Prior to joining the ranks of public relations, Mr. Lam was a journalist and founded several regional newspapers in Hong Kong throughout the 1980s. He joined the US-based public relations firm Burson Marsteller in 1985 serving numerous top notch international and regional corporations and was instrumental in forming a corporate partnership with Xinhua News Agency. He played a critical role in helping Xinhua establish China’s first PR company, China Global Public Relations, in Beijing. In 1993, he was appointed Chairman (Hong Kong & China) and Global Director of Burson Marsteller. 

Mr. Lam is an active participant in public service, including his multiple roles as a committee member for Business and Professionals Federation, Lifeline Express and Hong Kong Baptist University’s Faculty of Social Sciences, as well as the first Hong Kong Macao Economic Yearbook in an editorial committee of the research institute under Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.
